The Proposal Class 10 Summary
The play begins with Lomov visiting Chubukov’s house, dressed formally, intending to propose to Natalya. When Natalya joins, Lomov starts discussing land ownership (Oxen Meadows), which leads to a heated argument.
After Lomov leaves in anger, Chubukov reveals the proposal to Natalya, who demands that Lomov be called back. When Lomov returns, another argument erupts—this time over whose dog is better. Despite the petty quarrels, Chubukov hurriedly gets them to agree to the proposal, ensuring the marriage happens. However, the bickering continues even as they celebrate their union.
