Seeing his extreme fury, the dewan secretly arranged for a tiger from the Madras zoo, brought it to the forest, and left it there to be hunted by the Maharaja. Ironically, a few days later, the Maharaja bought a wooden toy tiger for his son’s birthday. A sharp splinter from the toy pierced his finger, leading to an infection. Despite an operation, he died, thus fulfilling the prophecy—the hundredth tiger (the toy) killed him.
