Throughout the morning Lencho-who knew his fields intimately had done nothing else but see the sky toward the north-east. “Now we’re really going to get some water, woman.” The woman, who was preparing supper, replied, “Yes, God willing”. The older boys were working in the field, while the smaller one were playing near the house until the woman called them all, “Come for dinner.”

A Letter to God Passage 2 Question Answer

It was during the meal that, just as Lencho had predicted, big drops of rain began to fall. In the north-east huge mountains of clouds could be seen approaching. The air was fresh and sweet. The man went out for no other reason than to have the pleasure of feeling the rain on his body,and when he returned, he exclaimed, “These aren’t raindrops falling from the sky, they are new coins. The big drops are ten cent pieces and the little ones are fives.” With a satisfied expression he regarded the field of ripe corn with its flowers, draped in a curtain of rain.

With a satisfied expression he regarded the field of ripe corn with its flowers, draped in a curtain of rain. But suddenly a strong wind began to blow and along with the rain very large hailstones began to fall. These truly did resemble new silver coins. The boys, exposing themselves to the rain, ran out to collect the frozen pearls. “It’s really getting bad now,” exclaimed the man. “I hope it passes quickly.” It did not pass quickly. For an hour the hail rained on the house, the garden.

A Letter to God Passage 4 Question Answer

Lencho showed not the slightest surprise on seeing the money; such was his confidence-but he became angry when he counted the money. God could not have made a mistake, nor could he have denied Lencho what he had requested. Immediately, Lencho went to the window to ask for paper and ink. On the public-writing table, he started to write, with much wrinkling of his brow, used by the effort he had to make to express his ideas.

The moment the letter fell into the mailbox the postmaster went to open it. It said “God: Of the money that I asked for, only seventy pesos reached Send me the rest, since I need it very much. The Flower were gone from the plants. The corn was totally destroyed. Thus the hailstones affected lencho’s field. Lencho’s last only one hope was the help from God. Ans. After receiving a letter to God written by Lencho, the people working in the post office wanted to reply to this letter. But he needed some money to answer the letter because Lencho had asked God for a hundred pesos in that letter. So to answer this letter, the postmaster collected money from all the post office employees and himself gave a part of his salary. But it was impossible for them to collect a sum of one hundred pesos even among themselves. So they were able to send only a little more than half money to that farmer. This is how the post office employees helped Lencho. Lencho had so much faith in God that he was not surprised in the slightest by seeing the wealth. Rather, when he counted the money, he got angry because he had received less money with the letter. On receiving less money, he called the post office employees ‘a bunch of crooks’ because he thought they had stolen a portion of money (30 pesos out of 100) while sending the money. This is how Lencho reacted to their help. Lencho is an important character of the story ‘A Letter to God’.
1. A poor man: Lencho was a poor farmer. But one year, his crop was totally ruined by hailstones. Nobody helped him. He was helpless and unhappy.
2. immense faith in God: Lencho had immense faith in God. He believed that God would help him in misery and would not let him die in hunger.
3. Simple and trustful: Lencho was very simple and trustful man. He wrote a letter to God and requested Him to send him 100 pesos. He didn’t know that it was impossible. But when he came back to recieve money in the post office, he got an envelope addressed to him with money in it. He firmly believed that it was from God.

1. एक गरीब व्यक्ति: लेंचो एक गरीब किसान था। लेकिन एक साल ओलावृष्टि से उनकी फसल पूरी तरह से बर्बाद हो गई। किसी ने उसकी मदद नहीं की। वह असहाय और दुःखी था।

He put the money in an envelope addressed to Lencho and with it a letter containing only one word as a signature – God.
