He asked for money from his employees, he himself gave a part of his salary, and many of his friends also joined him in ‘charities’. He put the money in an envelope addressed to Lencho and with it a letter containing only one word as a signature – God.

That’s why Lencho wrote a letter to God.
Q.7. How did the rain change into disaster? How did it affect Lencho’s field?
Ans. Initially, the rain was a blessing. Lencho joyfully compared raindrops to new coins as they promised a good harvest. Soon, a strong wind came, and hailstones began to fall. They continued for an hour, destroying the entire cornfield, flowers, and trees. The valley looked white, like covered with salt. The crops were completely ruined. Lencho’s hard labour was lost, and the family faced hunger. This is how the hopeful rain turned into disaster.
Q.8. Whom did Lencho call ‘bunch of crooks’ and why?
Ans. Lencho called the post office employees a “bunch of crooks.” He had asked God for one hundred pesos but received only seventy. Firm in his faith that God never makes mistakes, Lencho suspected the employees had kept the remaining thirty pesos for themselves. Ironically, it was these very employees who had collected money for him. His innocence and blind faith in God led him to doubt human honesty.
Q.9. Why does the postmaster send money to Lencho?
Ans. The postmaster was deeply moved by Lencho’s unwavering faith in God. He admired such belief and did not want to disappoint or shake it. To preserve Lencho’s trust, he collected money from himself, his employees, and friends. Although unable to gather the full hundred pesos, he sent seventy in an envelope signed as “God.” This compassionate gesture shows the postmaster’s kindness, empathy, and respect for Lencho’s innocence and faith.
